This is how our products are made

For Loacker, raw material quality and traceability are fundamental to guarantee high-quality products.
Hazelnut represents one of the main raw materials and has always been a symbol and distinctive sign of quality and freshness of our products.
The company has always and exclusively used 100% Italian hazelnuts that are freshly roasted in their production plants.
This is why we decided to boost the production of Italian hazelnuts by starting the “Noccioleti Italiani” (“Italian hazelnut plantations”) project, promoting hazelnut cultivation and revitalizing the agricultural agenda.
Loacker decided to create its own hazelnut plantations and kick off partnerships with local farmers, actively committing itself to work right at the start of the supply chain, especially focusing on raw material traceability for ingredients used in its products. The company has taken this step to reflect its overarching sustainability policy, its wish to constantly increase the quality of its products, and corporate responsibility throughout the supply chain.
“In the following years we want to meet our Italian hazelnut demand relying on our own plantations. The groves are the result of a collaboration with independent farmers and relationships with structures which were already active in the hazelnut industry, specifically their cultivation and sale. Sustainability, as well as the Italian heritage together with quality are the principles which make us stand out and guarantee our independence.”
The idea behind the “Noccioleti Italiani” (“Italian hazelnut plantations”) project was born in 2011 and became operational in 2014 when Loacker set up its own groves in Tuscany. The first 200 hectares of hazelnut groves were planted in Loacker’s agricultural companies, Tenuta Corte Migliorina, (Orbetello) and Tenuta Collelungo, (Roccastrada).
To this day, around 500 hectares of hazelnut plantations were planted in Tuscany.
Besides Tuscany, Loacker also kicked off similar projects in other Italian regions such as Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Umbria, Marche and the “Alto Lazio”.
The supply contracts guarantee different advantages to the farmers: by signing long-term partnership contracts, Loacker guarantees to purchase the entire yield at an advantageous price. The project also includes different services, for example the provision of technical consultancies and the product’s initial processing on site. Moreover, Loacker has made a deal with the Intesa Sanpaolo bank which will open favorable credit line to farmers involved in the project.
By taking part in the “Noccioleti Italiani” project, interested entrepreneurs will be able to rely on our constant support to reach the high-quality standards demanded by the company; in exchange, we will guarantee the purchase of their product.
“Sustainable development means bringing environmental aspects on par with social and economic interests. Sustainable economy means we have to ensure our children and grandchildren are left with an intact social, environmental and economic structure.”
Loacker has been guided for generations by its openness to the future and responsibility when it comes to the cohabitation of nature with a human-centric society coupled with economic success. We are convinced that high-quality products and services, protecting the environment, following ethical and social principles and economic success should not result in a conflict of interests and objectives, today or in the future. Sustainability means achieving a stable balance in fundamental topics for the company such as quality, economic success and social as well as environmental responsibility.
Therefore, sustainability is seen as a driving force and helps us define and pursue a healthy growth policy for our company. This concept is at the heart of this project: developing a sustainable product that will meet our hazelnut demand.
